Fence - It's A Comic Book About Fencing, What More Do I Need To Say? Nov 14th 2017, 12:00, by noreply@blogger.com (Tim Knight) Due to hit comic stores tomorrow (Wednesday), Fence is a new sporting comic from BOOM! Box, created by novelist C.S. Pacat and artist Johanna the Mad. "Sixteen-year-old Nicholas Cox is an outsider to the competitive fencing world. Filled with raw talent but lacking proper training, he signs up for a competition that puts him head-to-head with fencing prodigy Seiji Katayama… and on the road to the elite all-boys school Kings Row. A chance at a real team and a place to belong awaits him — if he can make the cut!" The tease reads like an archetypal sports story of the underdog making good, and not really my cup of tea... except for the fact that it revolves around the sport of fencing! My fencing days are long behind me, but it was one of the few sports I found I had a passing aptitude for and maybe - if I'd been more focused - could have had a modicum of success with. So, yes, I shall be picking up issue one of Fence and duelling vicariously through the adventures of Nicholas Cox.
