Great Googly-Moogly! The Asylum Is Making Sword And Sorcery Flicks Again! Nov 3rd 2017, 12:00, by noreply@blogger.com (Tim Knight) [embedded content] In the aftermath of the Trojan War, Odysseus (Dylan Vox) must face even greater peril, battling gods and monsters as he journeys home. While I'm (generally) a fan of The Asylum's contemporary monster movies, it's their all-too-infrequent diversions into fantasy adventures - especially those that aren't overt mockbusters - that truly get my geek juices flowing. Troy: The Odyssey is out in the States in mid-December (in time to fill some stockings), but I think it's not due to land in the UK until March next year (or I've pre-ordered the wrong DVD!). Directed by Tekin Girgin, and written by Eric Forsberg, Troy: The Odyssey has me genuinely excited by the prospect of some Asylum-level swords-and-sandal action, complete with miscellaneous monsters from Greek mythology! Even from just this short trailer, Troy: The Odyssey looks better than both the recent attempts to bring Greek myths to the small screen: the BBC's lacklustre Atlantis and SyFy's green-screen overdose Olympus.
